Heres a little intro to our new Pilates Instructor Orna.
Career Biography – Orna Carr
I was a very active child, teenager, big into my sports which included Martial Arts, Horseriding and Dancing. As I got into my late Teens the Martial Arts took over and I became obsessed with keeping fit and healthy.
When I left school I trained to be a Fitness Instructor in The National Training Centre in Dublin and went on to work in many Gyms and Health Clubs around Dublin and Meath teaching High and Low Impact Fitness classes, Aerobics, Step Aerobics, Spinning, Rebounding, Body Pump classes and many more as well as gaining a wealth of experience working on Gym Floors writing assessments and programs for clients. To say Im passionate about helping people become Fit and Healthy is an understatement however I also believe a healthy balance is important too and everyone must enjoy what they are doing.
I started to set up my own business on a small scale working out of a Community Centre but it went from strength to strength until I had to get my own premises as Id become too busy.
A natural progression for me from Fitness had already started and I had moved into the area of Pilates where I trained extensively in The National Training Centre to become an Advanced Pilates Instructor as well as in Pilates Performance where I went on to train in Advanced Reformer Pilates.
I was asked by The National Training Centre to train as a Pilates Tutor with them on their Advanced Pilates course so I trained for a year and did my HDip in teaching as well as my Train The Trainer qualifications and went on to work as a part-time tutor on the Pilates Course at the same time as running my own very busy Pilates and Fitness studio.
My business continued to grow and as it did I took on more staff eventually having a staff of 7 Instructors.
My Reformer classes were becoming very popular in the studio and eventually I phased out my Spin and Rebounding classes and turned the studio into just a Reformer and Mat Pilates studio.
The pandemic hit and I was completely thrown by this. I subsequently sold the studio during the Pandemic in November 2020 and decided to go back out freelancing again, back to where it all began for me so many years ago.
Pilates is my passion and I love teaching people about how good it is for absoloutely everyone. I have seen peoples bodies change dramatically and Ive seen people with serious back pain and other injuries achieve no pain just by doing a really good pilates class with a good qualified instructor. I love the results people get from Pilates and how good it makes them feel.
I am always and will still continue to learn as much as possible as this is really important to me and I have learnt so much in my career from the people I teach. I will keep on learning as I adore knowing as much as I possibly again about the Human body.
I really feel everyone young and old should be doing Pilates, it is something I am passionate about and I will keep on teaching this wonderful discipline forever if I can.
I look forward to seeing you all in Dunboyne Physiotherapy Clinic really soon.
